GOL 1907

Mr. Sharkey,

It's a shame that you decide to blame the brazilian air traffic control when evidences point out that the biggest airline disaster in brazilian history happened because of the reckless behaviour of the Legacy pilot. Yes, your pilot that day.

It's a shame, Mr. Sharkey, that you jump to conclusions and say the pilots are in danger in Brazil. This not the US, our Justice System does not conduct witch-hunts. We do not elect judges, their legal decisions are not used as political bargain.

You were lucky, Mr. Sharkey. Your pilot's mistake that afternoon could have costed your life. It didnt. Luckly for you, in His endless wisdom, God decided it wasn't your time yet, Mr. Sharkey. But the Legacy pilot sealed the faith of 155 people. Can he sleep at night? 155 people. Men, women, children, even a kid 11 months old. We are now picking up pieces of people, Mr. Sharkey. So mutilated that they'll have to be identified through DNA.

We are all mourning those 155 souls. We all feel for the families. And we weren't there. You were, Mr. Sharkey, but instead of showing some sympathy you just decided to bad mouth brazilian authorities. Is this the job of a reporter of the prestigious NYT?

But hey, you survived right? No biggie. Let's just blame the air traffic control and carry on with our lives. Let's say how wonderful the Legacy pilots were, how brave, how well trained. Come on, Mr. Sharkey, there are no heroes in this story. There aren't monsters either, what we may have in this story is negligence. Legacy pilots' complete disregard for air traffic regulations.

What really matters is that 155 people died that afternoon and instead of not taking sides, like a good journalist should, you decide to blame others, Mr. Sharkey.

Instead of slandering brazilian authorities, Mr. Sharkey, why don't you move on with your life? Let authorities work. Let other journalists follow up this story. You were given a second chance. Give the journalist some rest for now, be just a survivor of this horrible crash and enjoy your life. Those 155 people won't be able to do the same.

Step aside, Mr. Sharkey. Don't hurt anymore those families that are still trying to understand what happened in their lives. Don't blame air traffic control when all you did was sit tight in that plane and pray for your life. Don't make assumptions. Show some respect for the victims. I'm not asking too much.

Step aside Mr. Sharkey. That's the best thing you can do right now.

Bem, é isso.
